NRI Bride Guide

How NRI Brides Pay a Delhi Bespoke Designer in Local Currency

Practical, transparent guide to milestone payments, international wire transfers, FX considerations and the protections we build in.

    Step-by-Step

    The step-by-step process

A practical walk-through refined over a decade of dressing NRI brides.

    1. 1

Receive a written quote in your currency

After your virtual consultation, we send a detailed quote in USD/GBP/CAD/AED/EUR/AUD/SGD covering design, embroidery, fabric, fittings and shipping.

    2. 2

Pay 30% booking via wire transfer

International wire to our HSBC India account confirms the booking and starts design and fabric sourcing. Wire details + reference number sent on request.

    3. 3

      Pay 40% at embroidery stage

Once we have the final design and start cutting fabric (typically week 4–6), the second milestone unlocks embroidery work.

    4. 4

      Pay final 30% pre-dispatch

After your final video approval and before DHL pickup, the final payment unlocks shipping. You're not paying for a finished lehenga sight-unseen.

    5. 5

      Keep all receipts

We send GST-style receipts in your currency for every payment. Useful for record-keeping and any future warranty or insurance claims.

    Why milestones (not full upfront)

Some Delhi designers ask for 100% upfront. We don't, because it's not how NRI bespoke trust is built. Splitting payment across booking, mid-build and pre-dispatch protects you — if for any reason we cannot deliver, only paid-for stages are at risk, and the booking deposit is refundable for the first 14 days.

    Wire transfer mechanics

Most NRI brides pay via international wire from their local bank to our HSBC India account. Typical wire fee is $25–45 charged by your sending bank; we don't add anything on top. The wire usually settles in 1–3 business days. We email a confirmation within 24 hours of receipt.

We don't accept credit card or PayPal for the full balance because their FX spreads and chargeback rules add 3–5% in hidden costs that ultimately come out of your design budget.

    FX rate considerations

Your sending bank sets the FX rate at the moment your wire is sent. Specialist services like Wise, Revolut, OFX and Currencies Direct typically beat high-street bank rates by 2–4%, which on a $5,000 lehenga can save $100–200. We can invoice you in INR if you prefer to handle FX yourself.

    Key takeaways

    • Invoiced in your local currency
    • Three-milestone payment: 30% / 40% / 30%
    • International wire to HSBC India
    • No hidden processing fees from us
    • Refundable booking deposit if we cannot deliver

    Frequently asked questions

Can I pay by credit card?

We accept credit card only for the booking deposit (with a 2.5% processing fee). The mid-build and pre-dispatch milestones must be wire transfer to keep your final price honest.

    Is my booking deposit refundable?

Yes — fully refundable within 14 days of booking, no questions asked. After 14 days (when fabric ordering and karigar booking begins), the deposit becomes non-refundable but is transferable to a different garment if your wedding is postponed.

What if the rupee changes dramatically during my build?

Once your quote is locked in your local currency, we honour that price for 9 months regardless of FX movement. The risk sits with us, not you.

Do you charge GST or VAT?

Indian GST does not apply to export sales, so your invoice is GST-zero. Your country's import VAT/duty is separate and paid to DHL on delivery.

Can my parents in India pay on my behalf in INR?

Yes — we accept INR payment via bank transfer or UPI from any Indian bank account. The total is set at the prevailing FX rate of your original quote.
