    Hand Embroidery Specialists in Delhi

Pure gold karam, suchak with rubies and emeralds, real silver thread, hand zardozi and every regional Indian craft — executed by master karigars in our South Delhi atelier.

For over thirty years, Le Wraps by Nidhi Sachdev has been one of Delhi's most quietly serious houses for hand embroidery. We are among the few ateliers still working in pure gold karam (kalabattu), suchak embroidery set with semi-precious rubies and emeralds, and real silver tilla and badla — heirloom techniques carried forward by master karigars who have trained in our studio for decades. Every panel is stretched on the addah, every stitch placed by hand, every metal thread and stone disclosed by name and grade.

    The Atelier Process

    From Sketch to Heirloom

    I

    Design & embroidery brief

We translate your moodboard into an original design, choosing the embroidery techniques that match your fabric, silhouette and budget.

    II

    Karigar sampling

A small embroidery sample is hand-stitched on the actual fabric so you can approve density, colour and metal grade before production begins.

    III

    Hand production

Master karigars work on the addah (frame) for 6–14 weeks depending on technique — pure gold karam and suchak are the slowest crafts in the studio.

    IV

    Construction & fittings

Embroidered panels are stitched into the final garment, followed by 3–5 designer-led fittings to perfect drape and finish.

    Frequently Asked

What hand embroidery techniques does Le Wraps specialise in?

Le Wraps by Nidhi Sachdev is one of Delhi's few specialist ateliers in pure gold karam (kalabattu) hand embroidery, suchak work set with semi-precious rubies and emeralds, and real silver thread (tilla / badla) hand work. We also execute hand zardozi, dabka, gota patti, kundan, aari, sheesha mirror, phulkari, kashida, chikankari, kantha, marori, sequin and pearl detailing — all by hand, in-house and through partnered Lucknow and Jaipur karigar ateliers.

    What is suchak embroidery?

Suchak is a traditional needle-and-thread embroidery technique where semi-precious stones — typically rubies and emeralds — are hand-anchored into the fabric using fine couching stitches. The result is a richly jewelled surface with a three-dimensional, heirloom quality, most often commissioned for bridal cholis, dupattas and ceremonial sherwanis.

Is the gold and silver embroidery thread real metal?

Yes. For pure gold karam (kalabattu) we use real gold-drawn metallic thread, and for our silver tilla / badla work we use genuine silver. These are the same materials used in heritage Banarasi and Lucknowi couture for generations. We will always disclose the metal grade and finish before commissioning a piece.

How long does hand embroidery take on a bridal lehenga?

A semi-couture lehenga with light hand work takes 8–10 weeks. A heavy bridal lehenga with full hand zardozi or gota work takes 14–20 weeks. Pure gold karam and suchak with semi-precious stones are the slowest techniques and typically require 18–24 weeks for a full bridal ensemble. We recommend booking 4–6 months before your wedding.

How much does hand embroidery cost in Delhi?

Pricing depends on the technique, density and fabric. Light hand zardozi pieces start around ₹85,000. Mid-couture hand-embroidered bridal lehengas range from ₹1,75,000 to ₹3,50,000. Heirloom pieces with pure gold karam or suchak with rubies and emeralds typically range from ₹3,75,000 to ₹15,00,000+ depending on metal grade and stone count.

Can you restore or rework heirloom hand embroidery?

Yes. We restore heirloom hand-embroidered pieces — repairing zardozi, replacing damaged kundan or stones, re-couching silver and gold thread, and reworking vintage saris and dupattas into contemporary silhouettes. Bring the piece to our Friends Colony East atelier for a no-obligation assessment.
